If you’re dreaming of an intimate wedding celebration in Norfolk, Sedgeford Hall Estate offers a charming and elegant setting for a memorable weekend with an options to host between 30 and 44 of your closest friends and family. While we are not a licensed venue for formal ceremonies, we are proud to host smaller wedding celebrations, weekend receptions, and extended family stays in one of the most historic estates in the region.

Smaller Wedding Celebrations in Norfolk – What We Offer
Our estate is perfectly suited for intimate Norfolk midweek or weekend weddings, private events and pre-or post-ceremony gatherings. We frequently welcome wedding parties who choose to hold their legal ceremony at a nearby church, followed by a private celebration at Sedgeford Hall. Some couples choose to hold a simple legal ceremony at the registry office with two witnesses, and then enjoy a more personal, relaxed celebration with a celebrant-led ceremony in the estate grounds such as our walled or roman garden areas.
Historic Estate Accommodation
Accommodation for up to 42 Guests
Sedgeford Hall can comfortably host up to 30 guests across the whole house. There is formal dining seating 30 making our estate an ideal base for intimate Sedgeford weddings where quality time with your closest friends and family is the priority. Alternatively, for larger groups, you have the option to include Park Cottage, which sleeps an additional 12, bringing your total guest capacity to 42.
In addition you may invite up to 10 non-resident guests to celebrate with you on the day of your event. To preserve the historic nature of the estate, a maximum of 52 guests are permitted during private events and celebrations.
From Relaxed BBQs to Elegant Alfresco Dining
You’ll also have access to a variety of beautiful outdoor spaces during your celebrations — including our charming Walled Garden — perfect for a small marquee hire for up to 52 guests. Alterntively, the West Wing garden and bar is perfect for anything from relaxed BBQs to elegant alfresco dining for up to 30 guests. While marquee hire isn’t included we can offer this as an optional extra for you with our trusted supplier and would be happy to recommend options to suit your style, budget and vision.
Intimate Wedding Guidelines:
To ensure your celebration aligns with the estate’s character and ambience, we kindly ask all guests to adhere to the following:
Booking Requirements
• Sedgeford Hall (Whole House) must be booked for all wedding celebrations.
• To ensure comfort and the best experience, guest numbers for the celebration event should not exceed 52 at any time.
• The Estate is not licensed to host legal marriage ceremonies. To legalise your marriage, you will need to arrange a legal ceremony separately through your local registry office. On the day, you are welcome to hold a celebrant-led or family-led ceremony here on the Estate, or alternatively, you may choose to book one of the nearby historic churches in Sedgeford, Snettisham, Docking, or Dersingham — all located within a 15-mile radius.
Alcohol & Bar Hire
• We are not licensed to sell alcohol.
• If you plan to serve alcohol free of charge (BYOB or bartender serving drinks you’ve supplied), no licence is required.
• If alcohol will be sold, a Temporary Event Notice (TEN) is needed. Most professional bar hire companies will handle this for you, but it’s your responsibility as the premises user to ensure proper licensing.
Music & Noise
• Music must be turned off by 11:00 PM.
• All outdoor gatherings must move indoors by 10:00 PM to respect our long-term residents.
Decorations & Cleanup
• Please inform us of any external suppliers you will be hiring and we require a copy of their public liability insurance to hold on record.
• Decorations should be non-damaging – please avoid using pins, adhesive, or tape that could mark walls.
• On checkout, all decorations must be removed, hired items collected, and any additional rubbish taken to the designated refuse area.
Additional Private Swimming Pool Access
As our guest, you’ll enjoy private, complimentary access to our indoor heated pool for up to 4 hours between 9 AM and 3 PM during your stay.
If you also book Park Cottage, you’ll receive exclusive private access to the pool from 9 AM to 3 PM throughout your stay.
In addition to these daytime sessions, as you’re hosting a private event, you’ll also have extended access to the pool during the following times included in our private event surcharge:
Friday: 7 PM – 9 PM
Saturday & Sunday: 3 PM – 9 PM
Private Event – Refundable Deposit
• To give you peace of mind during your private event we operate on a refundable deposit policy of £500. This covers the cost of accidental damage or loss during your celebrations up to £500. We aim to return this to you with 7 days of your event following housekeeping checks.
Private Event – Surcharge
There is a £850 surcharge for hosting private events on the estate. The fee covers additional cleaning following your event, any maintenance requests in preparation for your arrival (such as furniture adjustments), additional swimming pool sessions, access on the day of your celebration for up to 10 non resident guests, and private opening of the estate’s walled garden from 10am to 10pm.
Walled Garden
• The estate’s private walled garden will be available from 10 AM to 10 PM during your stay. All festivities must transition indoors by 10pm.
